I collaborate with sports teams, individuals and venue to further their goals in engaging their community with personality-driven action photography while showcasing the champions of lesser known sport communities to inspire participation.
As someone from Sheffield, I am always pleased by the changes in the media, technology and sports sector from the yearly Alternate Reality exhibits at Docfest to the incredible viewing experience of the new Canon Medical Arena. This motivates me to research and network with the sports industry, to find opportunities to market lesser known sports activities and facilities for people to lead a healthier lifestyle.
I apply my experiences in my visual storytelling by exploring the intricacies of each sport I delve into, from reading the rulebook, to communicating with the team themselves. I had the pleasure of operating the live broadcast cameras in the British Figure Skating Championships 2024, recording amazing single and pair performances featuring close-up shots of technically sound spins leaving circles on the ice followed by prideful smiles while leaving the ice.
I also have a background in Extended Reality from being a part of hosting teams for Sheffield Docfest 2023 and the 'Mausoleum of the Giants' documentary in 2024. I've designed and developed my own VR Interactive Documentary about the Sheffield Blitz combining archive audio with 360 video to allow users to explore the local stories interactively. This experience involves a to-scale recreation of an Anderson Shelter, created using Photogrammed textures and Spatial Sound Design based on the real locations where bombs were dropped across Sheffield City Centre. As someone with this background working in Sports Media, I am keeping up with how technology is being used to enhance the viewing experience, such as project lightshows for intermissions, action shots with drones, and live broadcast overlays for presenting game data.
